Centenary of the death of Venerable Servant of God Mary Frances of the Cross Streitel March 6, 2011
Dear friends,
My heart is full of gratitude to God as I announce the celebration of the Centenary of the death of our Venerable Mother Frances, Centenary of the Congregation and final approval of the Constitutions. These are two events that remind us of the Pascal Mystery. Certainly ?Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.? (Jn 12:24)
Mother Frances lived her faith fully, by living the Gospel and being faithful to the traditions of the Church. She always nurtured a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin asking? ?her to be her guide in helping her to remain at the foot of the Cross and to follow the will of God. She is a faithful witness of God?s love, can be an example for us and all the faithful on our journey to holiness.
We are happy to introduce the beautiful evangelical witness of Mother Frances to the new generation. Today, more than ever, we feel a strong call to live more fully our dedication to God and to support our sisters /brothers in need.
On March 6, 2011, His Excellency Msrg. Romano Rossi, Bishop of Civita Castellana, will preside at the Holy Mass at 12:00 a.m. in the Basilica of Saint?Elijah in Castel Sant?Elia, Viterbo. May the events that we will celebrate on this day be a reason for praise and gratitude to God for His innumerable gifts.
In Christ,
Sr. M. Teresina Marra, SSM General Superior
